How to Have a Wet and Wild Summer
I love rafting the Provo River, located maybe 30 minutes from Park City's Main Street. However, after having a near disastrous accident on a river a few years ago, I strongly recommend going with a guided tour and experts who know the river well, ESPECIALLY when kids are involved.
I know High Country Adventures is a very reputable river rafting guide service on two local family-friendly rivers, the Weber and Provo Rivers. Not until checking out their website did I realize they offer SO much more! High Country Adventure has Park City visitors and families covered for summertime fun with a wide variety of activities from May thru October. Whether you are in search of bigger rapids and award-winning BBQ on the Weber River, or rafting, kayaking and ziplining through majestic Provo canyon near Sundance Mountain Resort, High Country Adventure has something for everyone. They also offer ATV tours, fly-fishing and horseback riding, which are spectacular ways to see the mountains of Utah. You can combine any of these activities with any of the Provo River trips.
I have always wanted to ride the Heber train, known locally as the Heber Creeper. I just learned that High Country Adventure has teamed up with the Heber Valley Historic Railroad Company to create an unforgettable Raft 'n Rail adventure. Their half-day excursion starts with a train ride through the farmland of Midway and cruises past Soldier Hollow, the venue for the 2002 Winter Olympic cross-country skiing events. After you pass the Olympic sites, the train snakes around Deer Creek Reservoir and descends down into breathtaking Provo Canyon where it stops at the Provo River. There they help get you outfitted with life jackets and shuttle you to the water's edge for your rafting adventure. This is what my family will be doing this summer!!
Take a look at High Country Adventure's website and you will get as excited about a rafting trip this summer as our family is. http://www.highcountryrafting.com/
