Sundance Theater Annie Get Your Gun

The Sundance Film Festival in Park City is world-renown, but many people have never heard about the Sundance Summer Theatre.  I highly recommend to anyone who visits or lives in the area during the summer theater season that they take advantage of this cultural phenomenon.  Summer play productions are staged against the breathtaking backdrop of Mt. Timpanogos in Provo Canyon at Sundance Mountain Resort.  It is really something special to sit outdoors in the tall fragrant pines under a canopy of stars enjoying the arts.

 Sundance Summer Theater

The play season begins on July 25th and ends with a final production on August 17th 2013.  Performances are every Monday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday at 8 p.m. during these dates.  This year's musical is the Broadway hit Annie Get Your Gun.  It is not uncommon for a production to sell out, so be sure to purchase play tickets as soon as you make your summer plans.

I have attended many Sundance plays over the years and find them to be delightful.  We arrive a few hours early to eat and walk around the resort.  There are several places to eat there: the Tree Room, Foundry Grill, Owl Bar or you can purchase their special BBQ dinner along with your theater ticket for an extra $16.  I know of no more picturesque place to spend an evening than in these Utah mountains.
