Park City outdoor dining (park-city-outdoor-dining)

Summer is here and it’s the season that Park City really shines. Many Park City locals will tell you, they came here for the skiing, but stayed for the summer.

What makes summer in Park City so special? Long sunny days and cool evenings under the starlit skies. Endless miles of hiking and mountain biking trails. Music filling our mountain valley almost nightly with free concerts. Farmer’s markets and street festivals where locals and visitors gather to sample tastes and treasures from area growers and artisans.

One of my favorite ways to enjoy summer in Park City is dining under the stars. Park City's long evenings - nightfall can come as late as 9 pm at the peak of the summer season - provide the perfect setting for enjoying dinner al fresco. From Old Town to Kimball Junction, here are a few local, kid-friendly favorites:

El Chubasco

While El Chubasco does not have a huge outdoor patio, the colorful sidewalk tables are the perfect spot for a quick family dinner. Don’t miss their infamous salsa bar featuring a variety of homemade salsas. Fish tacos, mole burritos and lots of kid-friendly options round out the menu.

Windy Ridge Café

Great spot for a casual dinner. Amazing salads, soups (Soutwestern Corn Chowder is a favorite) and sandwiches. Don't miss the local's favorite Taco Tuesdays, 4-6pm, which includes a fun menu of $2 food & drinks.

Good Karma

In the mood for something unique? Try this Indo-Persian spot. The quiet patio lies outside the dining room’s backdoor, overlooking a plaza with plenty of room for kids to explore in between courses. Don’t miss the Begumi Platter appetizer which includes a feast of vegetarian dishes including Samosa, Eggplant Dip and Dolmas with yummy sauces and spreads. Save room for dessert and try the Baklava or Green Tea Crème Brulee.

Maxwell’s East Coast Eatery

Located in the trendy Newpark neighborhood in Kimball Junction, Maxwell’s is the place to go for pizza. Outdoor tables and lounging chairs overlook the Newpark Amphitheater which plays host to free concerts every Thursday evening in the summer. Outdoor games are available to keep the kids happy until the pizza arrives. East Coast style pizza, pastas, salads and more offer something for every palate - even the pickiest of young eaters. Try the Fat Kid pizza featuring a delicious combo of pepperoni, spinach and ricotta.

Silver Star Market & Cafe
1825 3 Kings Drive
435-655-3456

A quaint and cozy cafe located at the base of the Silver Star lift at Park City Mountain Resort, Silver Star is the place to be on Thursday evenings for "Plaza Palooza" throughout the summer. Festivities begin at 5:30pm and feature live music and cruiser bike rides (and rentals) from the Silver Star Sport shop. Stay and enjoy a casual dinner featuring BBQ burgers and hot dogs. Don’t miss the Turkey BLT.

Don’t forget to bring along some warm layers to keep everyone cozy when the sun goes down. Enjoy your summer visit to Park City!
