The Perfect Lunch Date at High West Distillery

Having a tough time finding a way to squeeze in a date with your spouse on your family vacation? Have a lunch date while the kids are at ski school!

One of the best features of Park City Mountain Resort is the ability to ski right into the heart of Park City and take the Town Lift back up the slopes.  Why not try one of the fabulous restaurants in Old Town for lunch?

On a sunny January day, my husband and I decided to do just that and try High West Distillery and Saloon.  Check your trail map and follow the signs to the "Town Runs". Quit N' Time will take you right down, where you can leave your skis at the rack or in the ski check. Don't worry that you are sporting ski pants, boots and helmet to the eating establishments in this town; they're ready for you!

We walked back one block, to a building that clearly was there when the mines were still in business. From the outside, it looks like something from the 1800's.  A little research and I was close...it was built in 1914. The top of the weathered wood building says "National Garage". In the window, you will see the sign for High West Distillery and Saloon

This is a working distillery that makes award winning whiskey and spirits. Opened in 2007, this was Utah's first legal distillery since 1870.  So despite the fact that I usually stick to water while skiing, how could I not try one of the spirits made right here?  I opted for the High West Lemonade with Vodka which I must say was a great way to start the date!

My husband ordered the tri-tip steak with spicy slaw, which was the perfect lunch sized portion. I ordered the High West BLT with avocado, that came with a side of creamy tomato soup.  The service was excellent, my cocktail refreshing, and our food delicious.

Although it is a sit down lunch, the staff is ready to have you back on the mountain quickly if that's your plan.  That was ours, so off we went to get back on the hill to work off lunch.

Weeks later, I'm still thinking how much I loved High West Distillery.  We'll definately go back on our next trip to Park City...now we just have to decide if it's for lunch, dinner, apres ski, or a tour of the distillery.  Decisions, decisions!

Love this idea of a date lunch if you can't get in a date night! This is quite doable! Thanks for the idea!

Great idea! Makes me want to try "date lunches" anywhere! The sit down in downtown Park City makes it unique though and especially easy! Thanks for the idea.
