Barb's Trip Diary: Day One

Barb Day 1 (day-1)Day 1: After a short flight from Denver to Salt Lake CIty and a long frustrating wait at Avis we finally made it to Park City Mountain Resort.

We reserved an SUV because our son uses a wheelchair. No, we can’t take two small cars because Avis overbooked! We finally sorted it all out.

On the way, we stopped at Smiths in Kimball Junction, which was very easy. There was also a State Liquor store right there. I thought Colorado had weird alcohol rules but Utah definitely takes the cake. If you are inclined to imbibe you should know Utah does not sell alcohol on Sundays and the liquor stores do not sell things like margarita salt or limes. You need to get ‘extras’ at the grocery store, where you can also buy 3:2 beer but no wine.

My husband and two sons are incredibly impressed with our 3 bedroom condo at Silver Star. With a private Jacuzzi on the balcony, flat screen TVs, steam shower, Viking appliances and barbecue, who wouldn’t be impressed?

We unpacked and headed out to Town Lift to see Santa arrive in Park City. It was so cute to see all the kids watch Santa and his reindeer ride down the lift. I was pretty excited myself. We had dinner with Snowmamas Krista, Marie and Lisa at The Bridge. It was so nice to meet their families but it was a long day and we were all tired. We headed back early to the condos for a good night’s sleep in our comfy beds.

Sounds like you're off to a great start. I can't believe all the snow you're getting there!

Good to know about Avis, we have had similar problems when rental car companies don't realize that you aren't booking an SUV just for fun. So did you make margaritas? If a girl goes to that much trouble we need to know!!
